Help with creating an Online Services account

On this page

This page has information on how to create an Online Services account. It also gives you information on how to prove your identity.

An Online Services account will allow you to:

  • access the form and apply for temporary debt protection
  • access and submit your bankruptcy form

You are unable to submit your Statement of Affairs online if you have been made bankrupt by a court order (sequestration order). You need to complete a Statement of Affairs form.

Please contact us at info@afsa.gov.au or on 1300 364 785 to request a copy of the Statement of Affairs form, or you can obtain a copy from your trustee.

How to create an account

To create an account, you'll first need to answer a few questions to make sure you understand what happens if you become bankrupt.

Once you've read through the information if you want to proceed then choose an Online Services account type.

You can create a Digital Identity or an AFSA account.

Create a Digital Identity

What is a Digital Identity?

Digital Identity is a simple, safe and fast way to access government services, and can be used again and again. Using digital identity is like a 100-point identity check undertaken in a post office or bank branch and allows people to prove who they are online.

From 11 August 2021, we’re making our Online Services for individuals available via digital identity as a public Beta. This means people can use digital identity to log into AFSA’s Online Services.

Step 1: Select the Create your digital identity button

Step 2: Choose an Identity Provider. This will take you to another website but don’t worry, we’ll bring you back

Step 3: Enter details from your identity documents to prove who you are. Depending what identity provider you choose and what device you are using this process may require you to download an app

Step 3: Verify your identity by signing in with the code provided by the identity provider

Step 4: Consent to share your details with the digital identity service and continue

Step 5: Once you consent you'll be redirected back to the AFSA website to log in to your account.

Create an AFSA Account

Step 1: After selecting the AFSA account option, enter your full name and email address.

Step 2: AFSA will send you an email with a link to verify your account. If you don’t see this, check your email’s spam or junk folder.

Step 3: Click the link provided in the email to verify your account and access your dashboard.

To complete the registration, you then need to prove your identity.
