PPSR searches

There were 2,902,425 searches conducted on the PPSR in the December quarter 2021. This was an increase of 13.8% compared to the December quarter 2020, when there were 2,549,589 searches on the PPSR.

Motor vehicle searches by serial number were the most common type in the December quarter 2021. They accounted for 48.9% of searches.

PPSR registrations

There were 495,710 registrations created on the PPSR in the December quarter 2021. This number rose by 1.5% compared to the December quarter 2020, when there were 488,256 registrations created.

In the December quarter 2021, there were 255,717 amendments to registrations on the PPSR. There were 395,200 registrations discharged or removed from the PPSR.

At 31 December 2021, there were 10,072,009 current registrations on the PPSR. Motor vehicle was the most common collateral class with 4,673,009 registrations. This was 46.4% of total current registrations.

Commercial property was the most common type of collateral. At 31 December 2021, 7,861,477 current registrations on the PPSR were of this collateral type. This was 78.1% of total current registrations.
